Biggest passion outside work:

During weekends and vacations, Pieter likes to spend time with the ones he loves – his wife, adult kids, family, friends, and dog – doing the things he loves – enjoying the outdoors, kicking back, living a life in full.

Biography:

Before joining DSM in 2012, Pieter gained extensive experience in operating and funding startups as CEO of IsoTis (ISOT, acquired by Integra Life Sciences in 2007) and co-founder and of OrthAlign (privately owned, 2008-2011), both in California.

Pieter currently serves on the boards of Miach Orthopeadics, Hologram Sciences, and DSM PPE Plus. In recent years, he was a board member of Bio2 Technologies (now Novum), Leading Edge Equipment Technologies, Frontier Nutrition, Interface Biologics and Essential Medical (acquired by Teleflex in 2018). Pieter was the investment lead for Isobionics when it was acquired by BASF in 2019.  Beyond the portfolio of DSM Venturing, he serves on the board of MassChallenge Switzerland and, until recently, served on the advisory boards of MIT.nano, Greentown Labs, and Prime Coalition.

A Dutch national and long-time US Green Card holder, Pieter holds a law degree from Leiden University. He lives in Boston, MA, USA, and considers Utrecht, The Netherlands his second home.Biggest passion outside work:
